How can I evaluate whether a news API is unbiased?

Choose a news API by what it collects. Newstake supplies direct publications with links to the original publisher. That gives your app the announcement itself as a starting point, rather than a news outlet’s retelling.

Know what goes into your app
  1. Original

    Who first published the announcement?

  2. API result

What text, date and source link does it return?

  3. Your app

Show the source so readers can check it.

Start with the stories your app needs

Suppose your app follows factory openings. Pick five announcements you already know, across the countries you cover. Look for them in each API. Check the dates, original links and missing results.

Look inside one result

A large article count can hide many copies of one release. Check who first published the claim and whether the response contains a summary, an excerpt or full text.

For example, News API documents a content field limited to 200 characters. A record returned by an API does not automatically give you a complete article or permission to republish it.

Where Newstake helps

Newstake gives you the publisher, a link to the original and a short description with context. An API and an MCP connection are coming soon, and you can join the waitlist on our AI agent guides.

Direct sources can still make selective claims. Test the collection on your own examples, keep the original links, and check the provider’s terms before building a public product.

Stay in the loop
