Is there a news MCP, and what does it do?

Yes. A news MCP gives an AI assistant tools for looking up news while you chat. Newstake’s planned MCP will focus on original announcements and research, with links back to the people who published them.

The planned Newstake MCP flow
  1. You ask

    “What did these companies announce?”

  2. Newstake MCP

Finds direct publications and source links.

  3. Your assistant

Writes a brief you can check.

How a news MCP works

Say you ask, “What did these companies announce this week?” The assistant uses a news tool, reads the returned records and gives you a brief with original links. You can move from the summary to the source in one step.

What MCP adds

MCP is a shared way for AI apps to connect to tools. The news provider still decides which sources it collects. The protocol itself does not make a report accurate or neutral.

NewsData.io and World News API already document news MCP offerings. Their setup guides explain the required accounts and supported connections.

Coming soon from Newstake

Our planned connection brings direct-source news into your assistant: find announcements, see who published them and follow the original links. We are designing it for short, useful briefs you can check.

Until then, you can ask any assistant with web access. Copy the prompt below.
