Which type of news aggregator should I use?

Use Newstake to read what people and organizations published themselves. Choose a coverage-comparison service to see how news outlets frame a story, or a feed reader to follow a list you already know.

Choose by what you want to read
  1. Originals

    Newstake: direct announcements and research.

  2. Coverage

Compare how news outlets tell the story.

  3. Your list

A feed reader follows sources you choose.

Want the original announcement?

Start with Newstake. We skip outlets that retell other people’s publications and link to the company release, government statement or research itself.

You get the wording and details before another outlet’s interpretation. The original author still has interests, so keep reporting that checks their claims.

Want to compare the coverage?

Ground News and AllSides explain their methods for rating outlets and comparing coverage. Read what their labels mean before applying them to a particular claim.

Try a story you know. Does the comparison reveal different evidence, or just different headlines?

Want a reading list?

A feed reader such as Feedly can bring your chosen sources together.

Test a few sources you care about before choosing. We publish this guide to explain where Newstake fits; we have not run a universal ranking of these products.
